This is a method I’ve developed to display animated art, which evolved from my own fine art print practice and experimentation in projection mapping. It involves projecting animations onto a fine art print substrate, allowing the moving image to integrate seamlessly with the printed image and physical presence of the framed piece. Unlike AR prints that require phone filters or screens, this technique creates a screenless, dynamic artwork visible to the naked eye, merging digital motion with the tactile qualities of a traditional print. It’s a way of extending my light-based work beyond photography, into something that exists between the physical and the ephemeral.
