Vibrant Power – Volkswagen


Sometimes a project pushes me to learn something completely new. For the VW Arteon campaign, I was asked to bring the theme “Vibrant Power” to life in a way that felt bold but artful. The concept centered around saturated color, but I wanted to approach it with a technique that felt unusual and elevated—something beyond typical automotive imagery. I’ve worked with light painting cars before, but this was a chance to take it to another level.


To get the smooth, consistent motion I needed, I ended up learning to ride a OneWheel electric skateboard. It became my dolly, letting me glide around the car with a PixelStick during long exposures while my digi-tech handled the shutter. It worked far better than anything else I tried, and honestly, I’m glad I took the time to learn it.


While it might look like magic, it was really a mix of choreography, experimentation, and creating the image in real time as the camera captured it.
