My first (genesis) piece in the NFT space reveals an alternate reality, inspired by sci-fi aesthetics and cryptic symbolism. Using light on a drone, and tracing precise geometric shapes at night, this piece offers a new perspective, showing familiar places in an unfamiliar light.

Ex Stasis I-IV

A collection of four audiovisual art pieces which speak to my ecstatic experience of creation; a unique feeling which excites and motivates me to keep creating and exploring in the field of photography and visual art. A development from my Lux Noctis project, this series focuses more on the intimate landscape, using practical in-camera lighting effects to interact with the immediate surroundings. As it gets dark, my surroundings cease to be an exterior experience and become a subliminal space, and that’s when I feel most connected and aware of my sense of being. This dynamic terrestrial chiaroscuro synchronises with my sound design and music to form singular looping pieces which draws the viewer in.

The Vanishing (LN6846)

The first editioned piece in the Lux Noctis series. This project depicts landscapes unbound by time and space, influenced by ideas of planetary exploration, chiaroscuro painting, and science fiction.

We are overwhelmed everyday by beautiful images of the familiar. I imagine these scenes transformed into undiscovered landscapes which renew our perceptions of our world. Lux Noctis is an acclaimed series of photographs held in the permanent collections of The Guggenheim, the Met Museum, and the MoMA, and has been published in Time Magazine, National Geographic Magazine, and Wired.

Light Space Modulator

Geometry of light, arithmetic of sound

The core concept of Aeroglyphs is to show the tension between the “immaterial geometry of luminous forms with the solid, rocky, fluid, icy concreteness of a deserted world”.

Aeroglyphs are a new form of Land Art that leaves the environment unscathed and aims to leave zero trace. Glyphs hover in the air like beacons. They feel simultaneously ancient and futuristic, mythic and surreal, dreamed and remembered. This particular piece shows my inspiration and takes its title from László’s Moholy-Nagy’s artwork of the same name; a sculpture “used for demonstrating both plays of light and manifestations of movement.”

An Electric Storm

“An Electric Storm” is the concluding chapter of my genesis Lux Noctis motion series. Conceived in 2016, this groundbreaking project draws inspiration from chiaroscuro painting, planetary exploration, and science fiction, expressing my unique connection with the landscape.

The physical component is a 1/1 fine art print infused with the NFT animation. This novel hybrid allows the artwork to be viewed in its AR mode while also functioning as a framed wall piece.

Theory of Forms

A circle of light oscillates above the pristine Salar De Uyuni as night descends. The flickering neon glow casts dramatic shadows across the translucent lake bed, merging light and land in a way which enables new perspectives for the viewer while speaking to my own unique experience within it.

This video piece is based on an original still image, looping perpetually in and out of existence, and narrates the story of an otherworldly but wholly possible version of reality.

💎 The Sea Of Ice 💎

A testament to impermanence, an ephemeral landscape in constant flux, and the act of memorialising its image for generations to come, through the medium of photography. While my practice as a whole aims to reveal hidden meanings on a geologic time scale, this artwork shows a snapshot of a kinetic landscape which no longer exists in this form.

On a long and arduous journey at 16,000ft in the Cordillera Blanca in Peru, I used my camera to photograph a glacier illuminated by my light-carrying drone. This allowed me to reveal details and textures never witnessed before, in a way which can be described as ‘terrestrial chiaroscuro’.

An Irresistible Force

“An Irresistible Force” is a meditation on the idea of the ecstatic landscape, an animated photographic work inspired by science fiction and the planet we inhabit. A motif of light oscillates above surreal rock formations as night descends in a remote wilderness in New Mexico, USA. The flickering neon glow casts dramatic shadows across the scene, merging light and land in a way which enables new perspectives for the viewer, while speaking to the artist’s unique experience within it. In the signature style of in-camera lighting, time lapse photography, and music, this multilayered and complex video art pushes the scene further towards an otherworldly but wholly possible version of reality.

Moonfall Over A Forest Of Metal and Glass (RW2737)

From the window of an airplane high above Nevada, the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Facility is a bright glint on the landscape. I first spotted the sprawling solar farm flying from Chicago to San Francisco and was startled by how bright it was; an artificial sun. After two years of investigation, I was finally able to gain access to photograph the array during the full moon of March 23, 2016, known as the Crow Moon. This image was made at dawn, just as the moon was setting and the mirrors made their most dramatic movements to align with the rising sun. Despite their size, they move almost silently but for the sound of the wind howling through the structures. Looking like a vast pixellated sea, this image emblemizes how technology has become so pervasive in our lives. If you zoom in closely, a lone crow perches.

Aeroglyph Variations

Aeroglyph Variations is a collection evolved from my Aeroglyphs body of work, created exclusively for Obscura Curated.

Aeroglyphs explores my method of intervention in landscape photography. By using light carrying drones and long exposure, I’m able to play a larger role in artistic expression all without leaving a trace on the scene.

This series was captured over the course of 20 hours in New Mexico, USA on Dec 12-13 2021. It shows the iterative processes and decisions I typically encounter during the creation of a final image, presented as a collection of 55 images. Compositionally, every image is the same, yet in attributes, every image is different. Time of day, light formations (glyphs) and other traits vary within the series to result in a spectrum of unique possibilities.

Taking inspiration from generative art and groundbreaking photo projects such as Carpoolers (Alejandro Cartagena), this project examines the notion of the photographer as algorithm; the code that creates and which ultimately derives from our unique programming of life experiences.
